Storm Damage Closes Madrid Post Office

The storm on Tuesday, May 17, 2017, caused extensive damage to the Madrid Post Office. According to the interview with USPS spokeswoman Stacy St. John by the Ames Tribune, high winds removed a portion of the roof, causing water damage to the interior. In addition, the glass front door shattered. The Madrid Post Office is closed until further notice.

Please be prepared for minor delays in mail delivery in Madrid. If you had a P.O. box in town, you have two choices:

  • you can still pick up your mail in town using the cluster box units that have been installed or
  •  you can continue using a P.O. box, but you will need to pick up your mail at the nearby post office in Woodward, located at 212 S. Main Street. It is open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m, Monday through Friday and from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Saturdays.

You can contact 1-800-ASK-USPS to find locations for other post offices.
