The history of the Madrid area, ranging from the farms of the early settlers to the coal mines that operated from the late 1800s until the mid-twentieth century, is showcased in the Madrid Historical Museum. A major feature is the Ackerlund-Burke Coal Mine, a life-size replica of a portion of a coal mine constructed by former miners. The museum also is home to the Keigley Doll Collection and many other items of interest. The Madrid community’s proud heritage of hard work and service to the country is showcased in our fine museum.
