The Madrid Community Gardens will be launched in the spring of 2016. The Gardens will be located at the west end of 4th Street and will feature twelve 4×8 foot and fourteen 4×4 foot raised garden beds. Recently, water lines and fencing have been installed. The ground will be leveled soon. The garden beds are being constructed, and plans are being finalized to have the gardens ready to go by the end of April.
Gardens will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis to any resident over the age of 18 with a Madrid address. No rent will be charged but gardeners will be asked to help with basic tasks such as weed control and garden bed cleanup as needed. Applications for a garden plot are available.
